The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON is Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Majors Candidate, and the event is on track to be the 8th World Marathon Major in 2026. They are on a mission to put Cape Town, the African continent, its iconic marathon champions and its magnificently diverse cultures on the world stage.

Running in this event is a way to experience the cultural highlights and the uniquely vibrant spirit of one of Africa's most visited cities. Arguably the most beautiful marathon route in the world.

This event will be held on Sunday 24th May 2026.

THURSDAY 21 MAY 2026

Morning or afternoon arrival in Cape Town.

Early check-in as available or baggage drop

Walk and explore the V&A Waterfront, eat out for lunch

Free & Easy for the rest of the day

FRIDAY 22 MAY 2026

After breakfast, we will take a short walk to the Marathon Expo

Pick up your race bib and explore the stalls before making your way back to the hotel

Early afternoon, take a trip to the school to see the Market Infrastructure Project, and meet the school children

In the evening, watch Performances at a Concert organised for all international participants

SATURDAY 23 MAY 2026

Join the kids for a trail run - Taxi Trail Project

Breakfast at the hotel

Optional run events - Peace Runs (5km, 10km) & Trail Runs (11km, 22km, 43km)

Free & Easy for the rest of the day

Marathon Eve Pasta Dinner

SUNDAY 24 MAY 2026 (RACE DAY)

Early breakfast at the hotel

Take a walk to the Start line at the stadium

After the race, take an easy stroll back to your hotel

Rest & recover in your room or explore the waterfront

Post-race celebrations

When you have decided on your preferred tour package*, you can download the correct application form(s) at the links below:

*If you are choosing the twin share packages, both participants (runners & companions) must fill up the form(s) and sign the agreement.

Please be advised that we DO NOT do the pairing for you. The onus is on you to find your own roommate (runner or companion).

The application will be rejected if there are any missing forms, incomplete information, or the agreement not signed.

The form(s) must be done via the fillable pdf format or typed - handwritten forms will not be accepted.
