The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON is the 8th Abbott World Marathon Majors in 2027!
The race joins seven of the sport’s most celebrated marathons, Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago and New York, and will formally enter the series at its next edition on 23 May 2027. Yet while becoming the eighth Major is a singular achievement, it is the event’s standing as Africa’s first that defines this moment in history.
Running in this event is a way to experience the cultural highlights and the uniquely vibrant spirit of one of Africa's most visited cities. Arguably one of the most beautiful marathon routes in the world.
This event will be held on Sunday 23rd May 2027.
THURSDAY 20 MAY 2027
Morning or afternoon arrival in Cape Town.
Early check-in as available or baggage drop
Guided trip(s) to the Marathon Expo at DHL Stadium
Free & Easy for the rest of the day
FRIDAY 21 MAY 2027
Morning run to Sea Point, along the promenade
After breakfast, we will take a short walk to the Marathon Expo
Pick up your race bib and explore the stalls before making your way back to the hotel
Early afternoon, take a trip to the school to see the Market Infrastructure Project, and meet the school children
In the evening, watch Performances at a Concert organised for all international participants (TBA)
SATURDAY 22 MAY 2027

Optional run events - Peace Runs (5km, 10km) & Trail Runs (11km, 22km, 43km)
Free & Easy for the rest of the day
