Welcome to Keflavík International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavík. As there is no set arrival time, you can book the flight that is most suitable for you.
Note that transportation from Keflavík to Reykjavík is not included in this package. Airport shuttle buses or taxi providers are available at the arrival hall.
The rest of the day is at your leisure. A tour to the Golden Circle with Tingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss is available to book for ones arriving in the morning or early afternoon.

THURSDAY 25 JUN 2026
Let's start Day two with an early hotel breakfast before we board the bus for a drive along the scenic west coast of the country with a knowledgeable guide ready to tell us all about Iceland.
We reach Akureyri by the afternoon, where the race briefing is delivered by our race officials. Here you will receive your race goodie bags while a stand-up snack meal is served. After the briefing, we will continue to Mývatn to check into our hotel.

FRIDAY 26 JUN 2026
Have a peek at the marathon route today through our Mývatn highlights tour. We are taking you to spots such as the ancient lava formations of Dimmuborgir, the majestic Hverfjall crater, and the bubbling grey puddles at Hverir solfataras.
In the evening, a pasta dinner prepared at the hotel awaits you for carbo loading, ready for the Race Day tomorrow!

SATURDAY 27 JUN 2026 (RACE DAY)
The Iceland Volcano Marathon is on today!
The route is going to be a challenge, but don't forget about the weather either. Although we are in Iceland during the summer months, the temperature is unlikely to rise above 15 degrees Celsius, and might be accompanied by rain. Though the scenery is just as majestic, no matter there is sun or rain.
As you reach the finishing line, we are going to celebrate your victory with a pizza lunch. And afterwards, you are going to return to your hotels via shuttle buses.
After a celebratory dinner of your own, as an option, you can join us for the Jarbodin Nature Baths in Mývatn for a relaxing end to the day, soaking in the restorative natural waters.

SUNDAY 28 JUN 2026
Today is your day to celebrate your victory! Take the day to relax at your leisure or consider signing up for one of our optional excursions. Please note that you can only participate in one excursion on this day.
In the evening, we will come together—runners, supporters, and organizers—to celebrate all of your achievements with a festive dinner.

MONDAY 29 JUN 2026
We are reaching the end of our adventure today, as the morning bus drives us back south to Reykjavík for Keflavík International Airport (KEF). The expected arrival time is 14:30. Hence, it is not advisable to book your flight out of Iceland earlier than 16:30.
It is possible to book a post-night in Reykjavík if your flight connection doesn't match today, or you would like to further explore Iceland on your own.
For those who are leaving for the airport, the bus departs from Mývatn at 06:00, and at 08:30 for those who have a post-night.
