This marathon is an incredible experience! Not only are the landscapes breathtaking, but the route passes through chateaux, wine cellars, vineyards, etc...and an enthusiastic crowd turns out along the route every year! Whether you are looking for a sporting performance, or prefer to dress up in your nicest costumes of Mickey Mouse or Dark Vader, the atmosphere is extraordinary and the organisation is second to none.

In 20 editions, the BEAUJOLAIS INTERNATIONAL MARATHON has become France's biggest festive running event, with a record of 27,000 participants and 70 different nationalities.

In the midst of the festivities, it is to celebrate the launch of famous Beaujolais Nouveau wine. Come and experience this exceptional event and savour the unique atmosphere between vineyards and chateaux.

It's an event that is both sporty and festive; with incredible refreshment stands, entertainment and tastings all along the route, laid out in the heart of the Beaujolais crus and supervised by more than 1,200 attentive volunteers.  

This event will be held on Saturday 21st November 2026.

7:00 pm: Beaujolais Nouveau Party

Every year, the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau Wine is celebrated on 3rd Thursday in November. This tradition is the subject of numerous festivities in the Beaujolais region, of course, but also throughout France and around the world! To mark the occasion, the Marathon du Beaujolais is organising an exceptional evening of festivities in the superb Cuvage des Compagnons du Beaujolais: wine tastings accompanied by local cold meat and cheeses, entertainment and dancing e night away! 

Location: Cuvage des Compagnons in Lacenas village, 20’ from Villefranche. Transfers included. 

FRIDAY 20 NOV 2026

Bib collection at the Expo: Shuttle service available from 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm from Villefranche train station to the Expo every 30 minutes. 

3:00 pm: Pre-race briefing at the Expo

7:00 pm: Pasta Party a unique opportunity to mingle with your runners-peers and carb-load your evening!

SATURDAY 21 NOV 2026 (RACE DAY)

Departure 8.30 am in the centre of the village of Fleurie, 30 minutes’ drive north of Villefranche. 

Arrival in the historical centre of Villefranche. 

The half marathon 

Departure 11.30 am, Avenue Saint Exupéry_Villefranche sur Saône. 

Arrival in the historical centre of Villefranche. 

The 13 Km 

Departure 2:00 pm, Avenue Saint Exupéry _ Villefranche sur Saône. 

Arrival in the historical centre of Villefranche. 

8:00 pm: Nuit du Marathon Time to celebrate!

The Beaujolais Night is the great festive post-race party, including dinner, entertainment & a lot of surprises throughout the evening. 

Location: To be confirmed in Villefranche. Transfers included if necessary. 

SUNDAY 22 NOV 2026

Sleep in and breakfast at the hotel

10.30 am: Transfer from Villefranche to Romanèche Thorins (30 minutes’ drive north of Villefranche) 

You will be welcomed by your English-speaking guide for a visit of the Hameau Duboeuf. This wine museum was the first vineyard and wine theme park in Europe to offer unique collections, shows and wine tasting. 

After the visit, you will enjoy a typical lunch at the Hameau with entertainment. 

3.00 pm: Transfer back to your hotel. 

Dinner at your hotel_3 course menu with drinks.
